What can I say about Elle Varner that hasn’t already been said about Jill Scott’s sassy style, Corinne Baily Rae’s beautiful spirit and Erykah Badu’s cool steelo. Besides the given fact that she is a product of Los Angeles, birthplace of the term “child star” and home of this 23 year old R&B soulstress. Elle Varner is amazing to a wide range of people who moniter her style, mainly because she as a west coast native dresses as if she is from the Brooklyn streets. Her funky Technicolor pieces and patterns give the look of chic outfits that would leave you naturally assuming she was raised from the “Crooklyn” streets. When I first saw Elle Varners first video for her song titled only want to give it to you, I automatically thought “Crap, another New Yorker trying to take my sweet Adele’s spotlight!” . But as I have recently discovered, Elle Varner has some talent not only with the conditioner that keeps her hair so perfectly curly and big but when it comes to accessorizing and patterns she takes a risk. Her off the cuff, old school Brooklyn fashion is one of the things that will bring a lot of people back into that trend. Elle’s Glamourized yet classy look may have a lot of girls thinking about covering it up this summer, however, it still interests me on how or when Varners style might possibly bring east coast and west coast fashions together. Because as you all know we still haven’t recovered since the Tupac and Biggie brawl, Elle Varner could bring our sides together with her sense of fashion.
