Ready for your make-up risk for summer/fall 2012? Orange lipstick! DON’T PANIC. This year’s best lip trend is available in a ton of shades, especially this year, that will leave you looking chic and fashionable, rather than providing you with your new halloween look. This summer’s fashion trend is all about small hints of a color in various places of your look (ex: mint nails, bracelet, clutch, and lipstick) Orange is definitely one of the few colors that fit in that trend perfectly right now so this is one more easy accessory to add to your everyday style.

I know that I came across orange a few months ago because my olive skin just doesn’t handle a red the same way some other skin tones can pull it off. Not being a make-up expert and hanging in the Sephora in Soho, NYC with all the fabulous professionals running around, I was super hesitant to try the orange lipstick that caught my eye. Secretly putting a dab on my lips in the corner of the room, I was shocked to see that it looks great! It really became my equivalent of red for my skintone.

But that doesn’t mean any & all skin tones can’t wear orange! There’s bright, dull, light, heavy, and every other try at an orange look, in Sephora alone. Tip for finding your color: Lighter skin tones look best with an orange that is closer to a red with a tint of orange and darker skins can try a deeper orange range, your skin will balance out the color and you won’t look like a pumpkin I PROMISE.
My personal favorite: Stiletto Orange-Red from Kat Von D. The color is great but it’s all a trial & error experience with such an out of the box lipstick choice so don’t get discouraged if it takes you 4 shades to find the perfect one for you.
