If you caught the 2012 Academy Awards on Sunday you probably saw the leg that got news buzzing. Angelina Jolie wore a black Versace gown with the most exaggerated slit I’ve ever seen, coming up to the top of the thigh. She was working the dress both on the red carpet and when she presented an award; she even pulled out a move that stuck her leg out to make sure everyone saw it. It made such big news that “AngelinaJoliesLeg” had its own twitter. At first I figured it was for publicity because it wasn’t casual at all but then I realized it was a lot more complicated than that. As we all know, Angelina Jolie stole (my opinion) Brad Pitt from Jennifer Aniston, which hasn’t stopped being in the tabloids for years now. There always seems to be forced competition between the two because Jennifer is the “good girl next door” and Angelina is the signature bad girl. As great as Angelina looked in this show stopping “leggy” gown, technically Jennifer did it first. Jennifer also wore a black gown with just as high of a slit (and leg sticking out) to the 2010 Golden Globe awards. So was this on purpose? Was Angelina trying to out do Jennifer? Was Angelina making fun of Jennifer? And who wore it better? Angelina has been known to rock a high slit for years now but only she knows the real reason behind the twin dresses.
